fourteenth form; badge & permanent accommodation get! {video/action for goldenrod} {bd to sat 2nd}
Oh? You already know me? Well, I guess you want to battle. I'm warning you - I'm good. {Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Nanao is finally challenging her first Gym Leader - and she's starting with Whitney. Ballsy.}
Really? All those PokeGear posts, then - surely you jest!
Grrr - ! You won't be laughing for too long! Girafarig! Go! {Whitney's Girafarig bursts forth, absolutely spitting chips at this Trainer who dares insult her master. Nanao's eyes narrow, and her fingers dance over the balls at her belts, before selecting one.}
Hmm - a Psychic. So, Shunsui! I choose you! {Whitney pales as the huge serpentine shape takes shape - the Gyarados is so massive that his head comes close to the roof.}
Th-that doesn't scare me! Girafarig! Use Psybeam! {The giraffe-analog neighs, and sends a concentrated blast of Psychic energy at the sea serpent, but the Gyarados merely shrugs it off.}
If you think those kind of attacks will have any effect, perhaps you should consider that I have two Psychics on my team. Shunsui, Rain Dance. {He roars, deafeningly loud, and suddenly storm clouds form under the ceiling, and a rainburst starts indoors.}
No way! Use Double Hit, quick! {The attack lands, and Shunsui roars in protest}
Well then, finally getting serious. {Nanao's face goes from amused to solemn in a flash} Thunderbolt!
{The flash and rumble of the attack actually knocks out the camera for a solid ten minutes, but when it comes back on, Whitney's Miltank and Nanao's Kadabra are on their last legs.}
Miltank, please, just one more Body Slam! {It moos tiredly, and slams into the Kadabra, knocking it into the wall}
Kiyone! Kiyone! {Her voice holds a desperate edge, and her fists are clenched. Slowly, the Psychic-type stands, swaying.}
I... don't believe it - how can it still be standing - there's no way! {Even her Miltank looks stunned - Kiyone's been paralysed, infatuated, and is so close to fainting that it isn't even funny.}
Kiyone... {Nanao's voice sounds close to heartbroken. Then, Kiyone looks up - and he starts to glow white, entire body glittering.}
H-hey, what's happening?
I don't... Oh. Oh. It's Return. {Her voice is barely more than a whisper, but it's enough to send Kiyone sprinting across the Gym floor, and into Miltank - who crumbles beneath the maxed power of the attack.}
I - I - Miltank! {Whitney rushes over to her fallen Pokemon - and it's completely understandable that she bursts into tears. Nanao walks over to Kiyone, who is barely standing, and enfolds her starter in a hug.}
Thank you. You deserve a good long rest, now. {Whitney is still howling after Nanao returns Kiyone to his ball, but instead of the usual complaints or comebacks, Nanao simply walks over and drops a hand on her shoulder, and stays there until the Gym Leader composes herself.}
You beat me fair and square - here's your reward. The Plains Badge is yours to keep.
Thank you. {Nanao smiles at her, and bows slightly, before turning to leave. She's nearly at the exit when a man in a suit with a clipboard steps forward.}
Congratulations, Lieutenant. Both on the Gym Badge...and your new dwelling. If you would sign here, I can give you the keys, now that you possess a Gym Badge. {Nanao signs with a long-practiced efficiency, and the Estate Agent hands over the keys. He nods, and walks off.}
Well, that's something, isn't it? First gym badge, and a house of my own... {She turns to the camera and smiles.}
{{ooc: Badge and house acquisition were both mod-approved! AND YES, SHE DOES WANT HOUSEGUESTS}}
[video]
Did it just make it rain indoors? I
Wow, that's-. Umm.
[awkward pause.]
Sorry. Just, the first time I'm seeing a battle like this, is all. That was awesome!
[video] lol keywords
Well, actually, my Gyarados did, but that's beside the point.
What, have you never seen a Gym battle before?
[video] pfffffffff
{video}
The Gym Battles? Oh, every so often. Just keep checking the 'Gear.
[video]
[Envy grins, but appears to also be considering something.] Guess I should get around to fighting that gym too...
[video]
{Nanao's smiling back} I lost to Bugsy in Azalea, so I guess that loss makes this one all the sweeter. And she's really quite tough - the Clefable knows Metronome.
[video]
Hmm...I might be able to take it out quick if I use Chimera or Lucky.
[video]
Maaaybe. Metronome picked a One Hit Knock-Out move, however - took my Gyarados right out of the equation. And that Miltank is not slouch either - it knows Attract, which is a right pain in the behind if you've got male Pokemon.
[Video]
[Video]
[video]
Your pokemon are so well trained, especially your Gyarados and Kadabra, aru. And congratulations on the badge.
[He tilts his head.]
I didn't think you could get your own house here... I usually just travel from place to place, aru.
[video]
Thank you, sir. Their skill is great, and I will make sure to tell them your compliment.
Yes , you can. If you're looking for somewhere to stay when you reach Goldenrod, I am not averse to houseguests.
[video]
[He chuckles.]
Thank you, miss. Although, I'm just worried about how my travel partner will react to the other houseguests, aru. He tends to be a bit... um... too cautious. Still, I can't wait to see Goldenrod again. It's been almost a month now since I left, aru.
[video] he's travelling with Russia, isn't he?
It's nothing, sir. Well, the offer still stands, even if you decide against it. I am well capable of making myself scarce. {She gives a soft smile} It's nice to sleep in a real bed, isn't it?
[video] Not exactly. He IS traveling with Raikov, though
Well, if you say so and if there's enough room by the time we reach the city, aru. Besides, I'll be sure to keep him from going over-board.
[He nods.] Yes. I mean, I'm used to using a sleeping bag, being a soldier and all, but I prefer to sleep in a nice warm bed, aru.
My name is Wang Yao, by the way.
[video] Raikov a la MGS?
I'm sure - and it's fairly spacious, anyway. Thank you for your concern, but happily I am quite capable of handling a little strife.
{She looks a little surprised at that.} You too? Well then, this place just gets more and more interesting each week....
Ise Nanao, but you might have known it already. A pleasure.
[video] That's right.
[He chuckles.] As am I, aru. I got much experience while I was raising my eight younger siblings.
[He is equally surprised.] Y-Yes, aru. I was actually one of those child soldiers before earning a bigger role in the military.
[He bows his head.] The pleasure is mine, Nanao.
{Video} aha!
{A sage nod} Ah, children. The greatest test a parent - or sibling - can ever face.
{SURPRISED FACES EVRRYWHERE IN THIS POST} N-no way! What is it with this place, that there are so many soldiers here?
{Video} |D
[He also nods.] It definitely wasn't easy, aru. We didn't have anyone else, so the task fell onto me.
I really have no idea, aru. It's not just me, but my siblings too and all the people I work with back home.
Speaking of which, where are you from, Nanao? If you don't mind me asking,
{Video} ~3~
Someone had to do it, even if it wasn't pleasant.
Ah, I see... {She pauses, and bites her lip before answering.}
Seireitei. Technically... It's in the afterlife.
{Video}
Still, it was worth all the hard work. I got to see them grow into the adults they are today, even though we aren't as close as we used to be, aru.
Oh? So you've been to the Spirit World? [His voice is very calm.]
{Video}
Things change with time, and rarely are things left as they once were.
Yes. It is a rare thing that I venture forth from there. {And hers is equally as calm, although she's a mite bit worried about that reaction.}
{Video}
[China's expression is filled with a calm curiosity.]
I used to see spirits when I was a child, but I've never been to the Spirit World myself, aru. Is it filled with demons and good spirits?
{Video}
{Ah. One of those lucky people. She bites her lips, before she answers.}
Not quite - the divisions between 'demons' and 'good spirits' is a little hazier than that.
{Video} asdfjkl; DARN SECOND SEMESTER >:C
Care to give me an example? I haven't had contact with spirits since I was given a charm to ward them off, aru.
{Video} lkjfasda it's okay bb ;3;
I didn't know there were such things. Hmm... However, broadly speaking, there are two types of spirits - 'Pluses' and 'Hollows'. Hollows are what can be called corrupted or fallen Pluses. With me so far?
{Video}
Yes, I am.
Although, even when I did use to see spirits as a child, I don't think I've ever heard of Hollows or Pluses before, aru.
{Video}
Good. And don't be surprised, it's a term we shinigami use.
Pluses usually head to the Afterlife straight away, but sometimes they stay behind as ghosts, and that's when we head to the Living World, so we can cleanse them, and send them on to Soul Society.
Sometimes, however, we don't get to them fast enough, and they degrade into Hollows.
