fourteenth form; badge & permanent accommodation get! {video/action for goldenrod} {bd to sat 2nd}
Oh? You already know me? Well, I guess you want to battle. I'm warning you - I'm good. {Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Nanao is finally challenging her first Gym Leader - and she's starting with Whitney. Ballsy.}
Really? All those PokeGear posts, then - surely you jest!
Grrr - ! You won't be laughing for too long! Girafarig! Go! {Whitney's Girafarig bursts forth, absolutely spitting chips at this Trainer who dares insult her master. Nanao's eyes narrow, and her fingers dance over the balls at her belts, before selecting one.}
Hmm - a Psychic. So, Shunsui! I choose you! {Whitney pales as the huge serpentine shape takes shape - the Gyarados is so massive that his head comes close to the roof.}
Th-that doesn't scare me! Girafarig! Use Psybeam! {The giraffe-analog neighs, and sends a concentrated blast of Psychic energy at the sea serpent, but the Gyarados merely shrugs it off.}
If you think those kind of attacks will have any effect, perhaps you should consider that I have two Psychics on my team. Shunsui, Rain Dance. {He roars, deafeningly loud, and suddenly storm clouds form under the ceiling, and a rainburst starts indoors.}
No way! Use Double Hit, quick! {The attack lands, and Shunsui roars in protest}
Well then, finally getting serious. {Nanao's face goes from amused to solemn in a flash} Thunderbolt!
{The flash and rumble of the attack actually knocks out the camera for a solid ten minutes, but when it comes back on, Whitney's Miltank and Nanao's Kadabra are on their last legs.}
Miltank, please, just one more Body Slam! {It moos tiredly, and slams into the Kadabra, knocking it into the wall}
Kiyone! Kiyone! {Her voice holds a desperate edge, and her fists are clenched. Slowly, the Psychic-type stands, swaying.}
I... don't believe it - how can it still be standing - there's no way! {Even her Miltank looks stunned - Kiyone's been paralysed, infatuated, and is so close to fainting that it isn't even funny.}
Kiyone... {Nanao's voice sounds close to heartbroken. Then, Kiyone looks up - and he starts to glow white, entire body glittering.}
H-hey, what's happening?
I don't... Oh. Oh. It's Return. {Her voice is barely more than a whisper, but it's enough to send Kiyone sprinting across the Gym floor, and into Miltank - who crumbles beneath the maxed power of the attack.}
I - I - Miltank! {Whitney rushes over to her fallen Pokemon - and it's completely understandable that she bursts into tears. Nanao walks over to Kiyone, who is barely standing, and enfolds her starter in a hug.}
Thank you. You deserve a good long rest, now. {Whitney is still howling after Nanao returns Kiyone to his ball, but instead of the usual complaints or comebacks, Nanao simply walks over and drops a hand on her shoulder, and stays there until the Gym Leader composes herself.}
You beat me fair and square - here's your reward. The Plains Badge is yours to keep.
Thank you. {Nanao smiles at her, and bows slightly, before turning to leave. She's nearly at the exit when a man in a suit with a clipboard steps forward.}
Congratulations, Lieutenant. Both on the Gym Badge...and your new dwelling. If you would sign here, I can give you the keys, now that you possess a Gym Badge. {Nanao signs with a long-practiced efficiency, and the Estate Agent hands over the keys. He nods, and walks off.}
Well, that's something, isn't it? First gym badge, and a house of my own... {She turns to the camera and smiles.}
{{ooc: Badge and house acquisition were both mod-approved! AND YES, SHE DOES WANT HOUSEGUESTS}}

Still, it was worth all the hard work. I got to see them grow into the adults they are today, even though we aren't as close as we used to be, aru.
Oh? So you've been to the Spirit World? [His voice is very calm.]
{Video}
Things change with time, and rarely are things left as they once were.
Yes. It is a rare thing that I venture forth from there. {And hers is equally as calm, although she's a mite bit worried about that reaction.}
{Video}
[China's expression is filled with a calm curiosity.]
I used to see spirits when I was a child, but I've never been to the Spirit World myself, aru. Is it filled with demons and good spirits?
{Video}
{Ah. One of those lucky people. She bites her lips, before she answers.}
Not quite - the divisions between 'demons' and 'good spirits' is a little hazier than that.
{Video} asdfjkl; DARN SECOND SEMESTER >:C
Care to give me an example? I haven't had contact with spirits since I was given a charm to ward them off, aru.
{Video} lkjfasda it's okay bb ;3;
I didn't know there were such things. Hmm... However, broadly speaking, there are two types of spirits - 'Pluses' and 'Hollows'. Hollows are what can be called corrupted or fallen Pluses. With me so far?
{Video}
Yes, I am.
Although, even when I did use to see spirits as a child, I don't think I've ever heard of Hollows or Pluses before, aru.
{Video}
Good. And don't be surprised, it's a term we shinigami use.
Pluses usually head to the Afterlife straight away, but sometimes they stay behind as ghosts, and that's when we head to the Living World, so we can cleanse them, and send them on to Soul Society.
Sometimes, however, we don't get to them fast enough, and they degrade into Hollows.
