twenty-fifth form; Happy Tanabata + Git Yer Eggs Here~! {Video/Action for Ecruteak} (dated 07/07)

 {When the feed clicks on, it's obviously been done by accident, as the first thing you'll see is a shot of Nanao's face - but she has a thick strip of cloth across her eyes as a blindfold, and she's talking to herself.}

Well, at least the nausea's gone. And the headache's receded to a tolerable level. And I can mostly remember things. {She grimaces.} It's a pity my balance is still off, but at least that's not as bad as the light sensitivity. I really don't like that.

{She shifts about, and cocks her head to the side, listening to the sounds of the crowded streets, and she frowns a little.} I wonder what's going on... Well, no better time to ask.

Excuse me! {She calls out into the street, and miraculously, some poor man with blonde hair and a lovely purple yukata responds. Those who've faced the Ecruteak Gym might know him - it's the gym leader, Morty.}

Yes, ma'am, can I help you?

Thank you. Ah, I was wondering, what is the occasion today? There is so much hubbub, and since, well... {She gestures to her face, and smiles.}

No, that's no problem. Today is Tanabata - we always have a few street vendors out on this day.

R-really? Well, thank you, sir. {Her surprised expression melts into a kind smile.} May your wish come true.

And yours, ma'am. Good day.

Good day, sir. {He bows politely, she does too out of instinct, and he wanders off, and Nanao is left alone, sitting on the verandah of the Inn.}

Tanabata already..? Well now, that's a surprise. Another year has passed, and I've survived it.... just. {She raises a hand to her mouth, and chokes back a sob.} T-to think.... N-no. I'm not going back there. I'm stronger than that.

{She sniffs, straightens her spine, and brushes down the lap of her pale blue yukata.}
I'm one hundred and thirty-seven today. I think that I shall enjoy my birthday this year, instead of hiding inside.

{She stands gingerly, reaching out a hand to the nearby wall of the Inn for support. Slowly, moving one foot at a time, she makes it back to her darkened room, the door thumps gently against something. Frowning, she slips inside, and removes the blindfold, letting her eyes adjust. And then she gasps.}

I - I - what. How did this - how are there so many - ? {She is, of course, talking about eggs, which are all over the room. Her Alakazam and Furret freeze, in the middle of putting an egg onto the bed.} I - I don't even know. Wow. Um.

What a birthday present. {Annnd the feed finally times out.}

{{OOC: For those that claimed eggs here, this is the place to ICly collect them! Video replies will come while she's still in her room, but she'll be wandering the streets with her blindfold, staff and seeing-eye-Riolu later on if that works for you, or she can just be. Hanging around the Inn some more. And, last but not least, HAPPY TANABATA, GUYS!}}

...good point.

Well, it's just that most of the people here seem to be, well, surprised, to say the least over my status.

I deal with people that've been dead for thousands of years on a daily basis, kid. Never heard of anyone that's got any experience with any afterlife, though.

So I guess you've still got that much.

Again, you raise a valid point.

Trust me, it's most definitely not all it's cracked up to be.

Yeah? The rules for me were a little bit different after I died--how'd it work for you?

... I died in the human world, violently, but because of that, my soul was still tied to my body. Eventually, a Shinigami found me, cleansed my soul, and sent me on to the afterlife.

{Her voice cracks slightly, but she keeps her composure.} And that is a period of time that I would prefer to never, ever go back to.

Mine wasn't exactly a vacation either, if it helps.

...Is that how it works for normal humans? What's your afterlife like?

It does, thanks.

That's how it works. And it depends on where you're reborn, and whether or not you have any ability to manipulate your soul.

...it's nothing like the "Heaven" that I was taught about as a human, that's for sure.

I doubt anyone gets what they expected after they die, probably.

Especially those who expect nothing.

I've met a few of those, they're always so confused about what's happening around them.

Heh, I can imagine. Hell, Connla ended up sort of like that when he got here--I'd imagine most others that came to Johto after they died might feel the same.

He's adjusted well, though.

I hope.

...Well enough. I had a few different circumstances that mean I know a little more about how the modern human world works.

Connla's almost blown up a microwave at least three times now.

{She can't help it, she giggles lightly.}

Oh, no. Really?

Pretty much. He's not a stupid kid, but technology's come a hell of a long way since our time. Even I get hung up on a couple things now and then.

That is very true - I can tell you, the first time I saw a computer, I accidentally electrocuted it - and unfortunately, myself.

...yeah, can't really blame you for that.

I still can't quite figure that one out. What I know about the world since my death really only covers the basics on 'how to survive and not look like an idiot'.
