ninth form; waking up {video/action for goldenrod pkmn centre} [backdated to 9/02]
Thin rays of warm light streamed in through the window, painting pale lines across the wall, across the floor, and across a bed, where Ise Nanao lay dangerously still, eyes closed, oxygen mask firmly in place. Dressed all in white, she looked more of a body than a living person, but the slight rise and fall of her chest betrayed that idea.
The light warmed her normally severe features, painting a study in contrasts with the shadows and her nightgown. Down the very end of the bed lay Hanatarou, curled around her mistress' feet, long furry body taking up most of the space. They'd been taking turns to watch over her, to sit at the end of the bed and wait, patiently, for her to wake.
Black eyes watched keenly, waiting for even the smallest movement, any change that would indicate a waking state. None had been seen for a week, not since she had collapsed on the edges of Goldenrod. Until one little finger moved, slightly. Hanatarou's eyes opened wide, and stared as slim fingers shuddered, and slowly clenched in the sheet. The Furret sat up, watching, as her mistress slowly woke up, violet eyes blinking slowly open, before slithering off the bed and hitting the call button.
There's rather a lot of noise when the 'Gear flicks on, and commotion, and movement in a riot of colours; and it's not immediately apparent where this scene is, but then a vine wraps around the 'Gear, and lifts it out of the way to show Nanao surrounded by all her Pokemon. Although she's pale, and missing her glasses, she looks to be well enough... Apart from how she keeps looking out the window.
"So I'm back..."
{{Nanao is awake after her rather traumatic canon update! She's not exactly altogether at the moment, but she'd probably appreciate having a shoulder to lean on at the moment, either literally or metaphorically.}}

[Video]
... What happened to you?
[Video]
Hello, um, what was it now - oh! Heather.
I.. went home.
[Video]
... Did you pass out here, or...?
[Video]
Ah, no... I passed out on the outskirts of Goldenrod.
...I stopped breathing.
[Video]
[She didn't remember anybody else who'd passed out ceasing to breathe...]
But...
Wait a second.
You said you were dead before you came here... right?
[Video]
{Not before Nanao, anyway.}
Yes. I was dead, a spiritual being. Who still needed to breathe.
When I was pulled here, I wasn't able to draw breath either, because of an... incident.
[Video]
[Video]
Captain Kyouraku and Captain Ukitake were facing off against Captain-Commander Yamamoto, this single most powerful Soul Reaper in all of Seireitei.
I followed him.
{Nanao draws in on herself, curling up up the blankets}
[Video]
... Oh.
... Uh, that must've been... pretty rough.
[Video]
I - I was just doing my job, Heather, I didn't think that he'd - he'd..! {She chokes up, and her hands go to her neck, not quite touching. She'd been suffocated, that much was evident.}
[Video]
[Heather's dealt with plenty of trauma of her own, and she knows it's no picnic. ... But she also knows she's pretty lousy at comforting people.]
You're here now, right?
[Video]
{Slowly, she calms down, and places her hands very deliberately in her lap.}
Y-yes, I'm here now. I am safe.
[Video]
[Heather understood trauma. She knew it wasn't always easy just to bounce back, even if she herself was incredibly good at it. But in the end, her mindset was always that as long as you were alive-- or-- existing, you could make it.]
[Video]
{Nanao had been quite sheltered from trauma all her life - and even then, she'd been the rock for her Division.}
Here, I am made flesh once more; Heather, do you know what this means?
[Video]
Um...
[NO?]
{Video]
I'm - I'm alive, Heather! For the first time in one hundred and thirty six years, I'm alive and human again!
{A slightly hysterical giggle escapes from her lips}
I'maliveI'maliveI'malive!
{Video]
[Heather has died countless times, but ... hasn't ever stayed dead long enough to get a feel for what Nanao's talking about. Still a clueless kid when it comes to true death, apparently...]
Re: {Video]
I died in the late 1800's, by the hand of... No. Sorry, shouldn't have gone so far... {She trails off, mind still spinning from the revelation}
[video]
You're not going to stop breathing again anytime soon, right?
[video]
Yes, I suppose I am.
I'd like not to - it isn't an entirely pleasant action.
{A pause}
I'm sorry, what was your name? You look familiar, but...
[video]
Well I guess you did leave. It's Envy.
How long were you gone? Just been a week here.
[video]
I - months. Winter was coming. {Eyes widen}
The War was coming.
[video]
[He really can't help but be a little curious about this war thing though. And Nanao hasn't really been too tight-lipped with information before so he figures he can ask.] What war?
[video]
{You're lucky she isn't all there at the moment, otherwise she might be questioning your motives.} The Winter War, the War that would decide the fate of the Three Worlds.
It... probably means nothing to you.
[video]
[He tilts his head a little at the description.] Sounds important. You're right though, doesn't mean much of anything unless one of those three worlds is mine.
Sounds like quite the story though. [If she wants to tell him he's up for listening because it does sound interesting, but if not he'll let it go.]
[video]
{Her hands scrunch deeply into the sheets} It is incredibly important, but from what I've heard, I don't think you are part of any of my dimensions.
It is... Would you like to hear what happened? {She'd like to, but, y'know, protocol and all. Hence the question}
