seventh form; video/action for route 34 {backdated to 26/02}

The 'Gear clicks on to what is becoming an alarmingly regular sight - that of Ise Nanao being set upon by hordes of Pokemon. However, this time instead of Sentrets or Weedle or Bellsprouts or those goddamned Zubats, a collection of Jigglypuff were eagerly watching every move she made.

"You have got to be kidding me." A flash of light, and then a rather large Poliwag with a crown-shaped rock perched jauntily bounced out onto the snow. Nanao gestured at the pink fluffballs, and Sentarou sprang into action. Hanatarou slapped down any that got too close, and kept a wary eye on her far too pale trainer.

"Go for it, Sentarou! Use Body Slam!" She may look a few steps from unconsciousness, but Ise was stronger than that - she had to be. Her hand went to her belt, to a strange new ball. Bare fingers stroked over the smooth surface in thought, but eventually decided against it, as Jyuushirou, Kiyone and Sentarou systematically reduced the numbers of the Jigglypuff away down to nought.

"Maybe next time, Byakuya..." She started forward again, eccentric mix of clothes fluttering in the faint persistent breeze, returning her other Pokemon to their balls. "Good job, guys, you've clearly learnt a lot." Soon, she stood there by herself, a lone, swaying figure in a wintry landscape. She kept speaking as she moved forward, addressing the 'Gear.

"Apologies, everyone, for having been out of touch. I have been... busy traveling and training, and it seems to have finally paid off. France, I should be in Goldenrod in a bit more than five days, if my past travel times are any indication. And Captain, yes, I am fine." She looks off towards the sea, and even when she looks back, her gaze is distant, as if she's seeing things that aren't quite there.

"I have one question: Has anyone else dreamt that they've been home when they've gone to sleep?"

What can I say? This world seems to delight in torturing me with hordes of rather disturbing creatures.

If you still have them, using the Repels that were in your supplies might help avoid those situations in the future.

I used them all in Ilex Forest, after I was swarmed by Weedles. I haven't got around to replacing them yet, as I'm still more than four days out from Goldenrod.

{Shudddderrrrr.} And I have no intention of returning to Azalea at the moment.

[What else is to be expected with the trouble you get into, Ise? ....not that he's any better with not getting sick.]

After all this, I doubt you'll forget to restock when you reach Goldenrod. [And, after a moments pause:] Though your team seems strong enough to handle anything that attacks you until you can.

{This place is the single worst survival scenario ever. ...and it seems that it takes some weird pleasure in making the hardiest of people ill with the slightest provocation.}

I'll have to get another job first. I spent most of my money on items back in Azalea, an action well-warranted by what I found in the Forest.
{That compliment gets a small smile out of her.} Thank you. They are quite strong, however, they weren't quite strong enough to defeat Bugsy. I believe the correct terminology would be 'curb-stomp battle'.

[All this screwing around with the people will probably come back to bite the place in the butt someday. ...you know. if places had butts.]

Work shouldn't be hard to find in a city as large as Goldenrod seems to be. Not like in Cherrygrove, at least.

[He'll just be shaking his head now. He might not be familiar with that exact term, but the meaning behind it...] You'll just have to try again when they're stronger. Here we have that option.

He grows with each level he achieves, but he's still a long way off actually being able to carry even Renji.

If he's anything like others I've seen, he won't stay that small for long. [Have Hyourinmaru peering over Hitsugaya's shoulder now. He's gotten bigger. A lot bigger. Like over three times the height of his trainer big.]

Same. The last thing I need is for a blizzard to come in and hit this area. There's nowhere to hide.

Wow. I guess baby dragon Hyourinmaru is no more, then? {Aww, he looks so distinguished now! ...and a heck of a lot more like his namesake.

[Certainly. It's more probable than Olivine City, to be sure.]

Then you'd best move quickly. I don't like the looks of those clouds. [A glance up at said clouds, then down at Hyou. Baby dragon is no more, for sure.]

Evolution doesn't have much to do with it, in some cases. Either he'll be able to carry you one day or he won't and you'll have to walk. [Not saying that unkindly. It's just his normal statement of fact.]

{Can't fault Nintendo for being thorough, that's for sure.}

Captain, we're talking about me. My default travelling speed is much slower than everyone else's. You're still very cute, Hyourinmaru.

You're right of course. Isane hatched large enough for me to ride, and I do take advatage of that, but Jyuu-san is growing slowly enough that it might be a while.

[That's for sure.

That's a proud little "Draaaa" from Hyou, though his voice is now quite a bit deeper. Still cute, huh? He likes to hear that.]

I believe the saying is desperate times, desperate measures.

[That's a nod, though. Golduck has carried him around sometimes, even if he doesn't quite remember it.] Hopefully, you have time here to see him grow up.

{And yes, Nanao does go 'awww' at the not so babby dragon. He's still really adorable.}

Do have dreams of Se - home?

...At times. But they're only dreams, Ise. We're still here in Johto.

{Maybe if they met up whilst Hyourinmaru was still a Dragonair... And she knows that look too well.}

Mine are so vivid, and they're of the very last things that I was doing before I pulled to Johto... Even when I look around me, I'll see a Shinigami walk past, or a Hollow disappear into dust.

{She doesn't sound scared, just... confused, and very, very tired.} I don't know what it means.

[Maybe, but that's doubtful. He's growing fast, but he'll still be putty in her hands. He already is in Momo's.

And there's a long pause as Hitsugaya tries to think of a way to word this. Maybe she did go home for a bit, maybe it was a just a dream. Either way, she's here now.]

...I've heard of people sleeping for weeks, then waking with memories of home. Of things they didn't have before. Maybe it wasn't entirely a dream.

{True, true. He hasn't got that far to grow before he evolves for the final time.

Mine started whilst I was in Ilex Forest... And whilst that place is bizarre, I don't have any 'new' memories.

[Envy's not going to comment on the Jigglypuff because damn do those things creep him out, but the question pings his interest.] There've been people that fall asleep for a week or more and dream about going home, but I guess regular dreams about it would be normal too.

[He's certainly had a few.]

{Jigglypuff are damn terrifying, this is a fact. But the information about the ~~canon-update~~ comas piqued her interest ...and fears.}

Th-that's a little freaky. And they've been so vivid, too...

{So has she, but none so vivid and real as these. It had almost been like she'd been there herself...}
