{So, how bout those hideous weather conditions? Pretty bad time to be at the beach, don't you think?}

{Isn't it a pity that Nanao's house is literally just next to the beach... And the feed shows her staring despondently at the waves lapping at the top of the hastily-erected sandbag wall in front of her porch. A baby Absol is curled on her lap, whimpering unhappily.}

I suppose that even I know when it is more prudent to retreat than to keep fighting.

{Wheeling back inside, it seems that most of the movable furniture has been taken upstairs, but the upright piano sits defiantly in the middle of a bare room. Too big to be taken upstairs, and too unwieldy to really be moved, there is little chance of it surviving the flood. The light flickers overhead.}

I would really appreciate a hand in leaving, given that I'm stuck in a wheelchair, and my lone Water-type is too young-- {A massive crash of lightning rattles the windows, and the light finally gives up the ghost and dies, leaving the room dark.} ...well.

Help would be wonderful, the sooner the better.

[Still making icon faces! Even as Mizumaru plunges over the sandbags with a quack and waddles his way to Nanao's side, wondering just what they want him to actually do in this mess. They going, staying, what?! You trainers need to make up your minds faster!]

[With a quack, Mizumaru sets off back into the waves, actually making fairly decent headway despite having to go slow so Nanao doesn't fall off and into the water. Hence why they can make it to the Center with no incident after about forty-five minutes, though actually getting Nanao into the Center takes a lot of fiddling and quacking and hissing before he gets her inside to where a nurse can take over once he leaves, returning just under two hours later with his water-logged trainer at his side. Oh, but what a day it has been!]

Honestly...the blizzard from two years ago is preferable to this.

I think I prefer being wet to being frozen, myself. It's easy to dry off than warm up.

{Azrael snuggles back down again, satisfied that things are okay.} It's just that being in that situation triggered certain long-buried memories. Specifically, they very last ones I had as a human.

Considering the other damages they caused, it wouldn't surprise me if they actually could. I doubt they care about this kind of mess.

[Also, she's getting a look and--yep. He finally manages to get a nurse over, one who's bringing a wheelchair and telling them where to find a room to get some sleep. Will she take the offer or is he going to have to make her?]

Also, that's a nod and he hops from the bench once she's in the wheelchair. The nurse did mention several beds had been put into each room, so it looks like neither is leaving the other's sight for some time...not that he minds much, at this point.]

{She is quite happily wheeled to a room with two beds in it, and scrambles onto one of the beds with a minimum of difficulty, Azrael following her carefully.}

[He watches her move like that for a moment, then shakes his head and sits on the other bed, tugging off his shoes as he does so. Clearly, she's recovering well. That's a relief.]

Then sleep as much as you can. Something tells me we'll need the energy before this is over.

[Of course they'll probably wake up with the power being out since their luck is just that crappy and they'll have nothing to do but sit in the dark, but still. Principle of the matter.]
