twenty-seventh form; dual evolution {Video/Action for the Breeding Centre}

{This feed today is brought to you by Ghostly Balloons Inc, and showcases a lovely sunlight-filled room, with a daybed positioned near the open windows, where a faint breeze ruffles the curtains gently. As Drifloon-san is blown gently to the other side of the room, the figures lying on the bed comes into focus.}

It must be a wonderfully sunny day, hey, Shinrai? {It's none other than Nanao, who looks a heck of a lot better than she did last time she appeared on the network, although she's still wrapped in bandages, not least including her eyes, which are still covered, and her sling-clad left arm. Her right hand is resting on a strange stone, fingers smoothing over the slick surface.}

Riolu!

You said it, little one. {She laughs a little, and scritches gently behind his ears. For his part, Shinrai still has bandages around his middle, but he sounds happy.}

Souji-san sure is nice to let us stay here while we recover, isn't he? {Sigh} I do hate to be an imposition, but -

{Her sentence is cut off by the sudden arrival of a Ralts, glowing faintly white in the sunshine - but then it moves into the shade, and it's clear that this particular glow is that of ~evolutionnnn~ and boy, does Nanao sound surprised.}

Ikka?! What are you doing - are you evolving? {Shinrai levers himself upright, and the glow brightens, and Ikka's silhouette changes from that of a Ralts to something a fair sight taller.}

Kirrr! {He spins in place twice, before he minces over, and picks up the Dawn Stone, immediately triggering his second evolution. Nanao protests feebly, but she can but wait as the glow brightens to painful levels, and Ikka's body grows and shifts, until the glow fades again, and a Gallade stands next to the daybed.}

Wh-why? What made you do this? {Nanao sounds more confused than shocked.} I thought you wanted to wait -

Galla. Gallade. {He reaches over, and brushes a lock of hair away from her forehead, and Nanao's mouth forms an "o"}

O-oh. You want to protect me - {And the Drifloon drops the 'Gear, ending the transmission.}

{ooc: Nanao is laid up in the Breeding Centre, but is pretty much bedbound for the characters in residence there. She will however be responding to all 'Gear replies! ...after the Drifloon picks it up from behind the cupboard.}

I don't know. Pretty much. In a, uh, pretty aggressive sort of way?

_{[Tell him what you found. He's narrowing eyes at the screen.]}

...right. Well. {She moves the camera, and the egg comes into focus.}

I don't really want to know how this came about, but I unfortunately have a very bad idea of how.

{Swallowing heavily.}

_{[--- huh well. He stares for a second, but then despite himself can't help a small grin.]}

_{[Dinero you bastard.]}

{She giggles.} I can hear you smiling!

So, uh. They probably haven't gone too far, then. I know Hanatarou is very protective of eggs, she doesn't like to let them out of her sight.... Oh?

{The egg in her hand wiggles a little.}

_{[He stares at it. He's not sure what he thinks of this situation yet, but proceeds to flop down on the bed (actual rooms! meowth money!) and ........ wait ... he groans, rolls his eyes, searches around for a bit and then shows the screen a Sentret egg. :| how he missed it before is anyone's guess.]}

I'm never letting him loose in your zoo again.

{She sighs heavily.} Let me guess, you have a Sentret egg.

And it's not a zoo! I just have quite a few Pokemon, that's all. {And the egg wiggles again.}

Is that what they're called?

_{[Grumbling a little. Then a pointed look.]}

Yeah, enough to be a zoo -- 's that thing gonna hatch or what?

Yes, it is. {And bristling!!! Gosh Tulio you know how to push all of her buttons, don't you.}

There's only twenty or so, that's not many at all! {And the egg wiggles even more violently.}

I think it is!

{And she falls silent, brow furrowed under the bandages that keep her from seeing. The egg is in her lap now, and she gently brushes her fingertips over the shuddering and cracking surface of the shell.}

Come on, little one, time for you to say hello to the world.

[It takes a few minutes more, but then a little paw breaks though, and the expression on Nanao's face changes completely, from that of concentration to a soft, gentle, motherly expression, and it stays that way as the Meowth kitten slowly frees itself from it's shelter.}

{Deft fingers gently remove pieces of eggshell from around and under the damp form, and Shinrai the Riolu looks on interestedly as it squeaks and mewls, and finally curls into a little ball in Nanao's cupped hands, and promptly goes straight to sleep.}

You're beautiful, little one. {She murmurs gently, and it yawns, showing tiny little teeth, and she smiles.}

_{[He would have kept up the battle of wits, but a hatching is something to look at - even though he's seen the exact same thing before with Dinero, he looks on quietly.]

[For all his defenses, after all, he is able to appreciate small wonders from time to time.]

[But at her words, he rolls his eyes - with a hint of a smile, though - and mutters, but not unkindly,]}

You can't even see it.

{She's gently stroking the hatchling with a fingertip when he speaks, and she swallows heavily.}

I don't have to. I know that she's beautiful, just the way she is.

{and no her voice is not thick and sounding vaguely emotional, why would you even think that.}

_{[Oh, women. He lets her be for a while, but his jerk tendencies have to kick in sooner or later. SORRY.]}

Yeah, you got a cat now. Can we go back to looking for mine?

{She had actually vaguely expected him to start asking her about Dinero again much sooner.}

Yes, Tulio-san, we can. And I think I know where she is now, anyway.

{Yes, that was a deliberate use of 'she', and Ikka the Gallade nods, and leaves the room. Nanao just sounds very tired, now.}

_{[...she? WHAT. He frowns at her but refrains from commenting on that.]}

{AHAHAH Pokemon cannot be in lesbians with each other |D}

I should clarify. I know where Hanatarou is, and Dinero is likely to be close by. I think.

Yeah, hopefully. Wouldn't surprise me if he's run off somewhere though.
